The Open Polytechnic of New Zealand offers two qualifications for information and records professionals – a 120 credit Level 6 New Zealand Diploma of Records and Information Management (DipRIM) and a Bachelor of Library and Information Studies (BLIS). DipRIM core courses (papers) are 20 credits and equate to first and second year university level. They cover information management, digital asset management, records management, preservation and digitisation, and archives management. The Diploma also includes one elective choice from three courses covering knowledge systems, cultural competencies in information institutions and research methods and interpretation. All courses within the DipRIM are either electives or core courses within the BLIS.
