In our fast-paced world citizens around the globe are faced with wave after wave of information, overloading our lives with truths, half-truths and falsehoods. A breakdown in social cohesion and rising distrust in governments means that the authentic government record becomes an increasingly important pillar supporting our democratic principles.
In this presentation Simon will discuss the growing importance of information governance in ensuring our bureaucracies operate with integrity and in the role that we as stewards of that information perform.
Simon Froude is Director-General of National Archives of Australia. Simon is leading National Archives through the next phase of its transformation to ensure it continues as a beacon for best practice management of the official records of the Commonwealth of Australia, and that Australian Government information of enduring significance is secured, preserved and available to government agencies, researchers and the community.
Simon’s driving passion is to improve the accessibility of government records, with a particular focus on improving access to individuals and groups impacted by past government policy.
