Information security and freedom of information are often treated as opposing forces, but they have more in common than you might think.
This session explores the commonly overlooked pillar of information security, being the availability of information, in the context of Victoria’s Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 and the Freedom of Information Act 1982.

Anthony serves as the acting Privacy and Data Protection Deputy Commissioner within the Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner (OVIC), where he oversees pivotal areas of regulatory administration in privacy and data protection (information security). With over a decade of dedicated service to OVIC and its predecessors, Anthony has been instrumental in pioneering the Victorian Protective Data Security Framework (VPDSF) and the Victorian Protective Data Security Standards, a cornerstone of governmental information security.
