Adaptation policies embed hidden assumptions about data systems, knowledge frameworks, and cultural infrastructure that often don't exist. Using the Data-Information-Knowledge-Wisdom (DIKW) framework as an analytical lens, we'll examine Australian adaptation policies for dependencies.
Identifying assumptions about information infrastructure is a critical part of the adaptation puzzle. In this interactive presentation, you will walk away with tools to audit adaptation strategies and identify where vital implementation work needs to happen.
Leisa Gibbons is a researcher and educator exploring the role of information infrastructure in Australian climate adaptation policy.
With a background in archival science, information management, and public policy, Leisa uses systems thinking to develop methods and insights on the role of social systems in climate adaptation policy and implementation.
Leisa teaches and supervises students in records, archives, and information management, emphasising real-world relevance and social impact. As a neurodivergent professional, she brings curiosity and systems thinking to create space for diverse approaches in research, especially in complex and overlooked areas.
