Anahera Morehu
Poumanaaki Chief Archivist, Te Rua Mahara o te Kāwanatanga Archives New Zealand
Since 2001, Anahera has worked in the information sector in various leadership roles. Starting within public libraries, moving into tertiary libraries and then finally to archives. Originally employed wanatanga Archives New Zealand Te Rua Mahara o te Kāwanatanga, she was then appointed as Poumanaaki Chief Archivist. There are many challenges she has faced as Poumanaaki Chief Archivist leading up to present, and she acknowledges that there will continue to be challenges in the future of the role. Work that continues to support the statutory requirements of the role has put Te Rua Mahara in good stead to see changes in the future. The work underway to improve information management maturity is not something that will happen with a snap of the fingers, but is a process that we know will take more time and more resourcing in the current and future political and economic climate.
