In an era of ever-increasing technological transformation, information practitioners are the frontline actors with an important role to harness the opportunities, while guarding against real threats.
How they play this role is critical, not only in advancing the public good (through education, knowledge sharing and documenting history), but also in ensuring that the most fundamental rights of the community are protected.
This presentation will explore how the rights to privacy and access to government held information are being transformed by technological changes such as AI, cyber threats and digital transformation and consider how information practitioners can actively influence and contribute.
Stephanie Winson is an experienced executive public sector leader and lawyer with a significant interest in constitutional, regulatory and administrative law matters. Stephanie held senior public sector leadership roles in New Zealand and Namibia, before joining the Office of the Information Commissioner Queensland in 2023, as Right to Information Commissioner.
