Peter is passionate about making a difference through applied use of data to better understand and solve complex problems. This includes using data to develop and implement robust long-term strategies and improve customer experience. He has led strategic, operational and technical teams in the public, private and statutory sectors for the past 25 years - from running a small business in Adelaide to working for one of the biggest companies in Australia, Peter has real world understanding of the value of customer service, data and culture. His experience includes delivering complex technology and analytics projects from both business and technical sides, which translated into real-world outcomes of improved decision making, improved customer satisfaction and large tangible savings.
Peter is currently the Chief Data Officer in the Department of Treasury and Finance in South Australia, leading the whole-of-government Office for Data Analytics to improve information sharing and analytics initiatives across government, support evidence-based service design, use predictive analytics to inform policy development and ensure data assets are appropriately governed.
This award-winning team developed and managed the COVIDSAfe QR Check-In data, contact tracing over 700,000 positive cases during the COVID-19 pandemic and developed an emergency management common operating picture to improve understanding and response to large-scale emergencies including bushfires and floods.
Peter holds a Bachelor of Health Science (BHSc) from the University of Adelaide and remains passionate about using technology to improve individuals’ health knowledge and outcomes.
