The myGov platform is to be transformed to an identity exchange platform.
The government is aiming to transform myGov from a basic gateway to digital services into a more widely used identity exchange platform, likening its current underutilisation to a Ferrari kept in a garage. Services Minister Bill Shorten announced a proof-of-concept called Trust Exchange (TEx), which will allow users to verify their identity using government-held information, sharing only the details they choose. TEx, expected to be piloted in 2025, aims to increase the utility and convenience of myGov, encouraging greater citizen uptake.
