Freedom of Information Officer

About the opportunity:
We are seeking a motivated Freedom of Information (FOI) Officer to join our Information and Records team within the Corporate and Commercial Division. This 12 month contract role is pivotal in supporting the provision of effective FOI services across the Department for Energy and Mining (DEM).
As an FOI Officer, you will assist the Senior FOI Officer in processing FOI requests accurately and within statutory timeframes.
Your duties will include:
- Providing quality and timely advice to FOI applicants
- Requesting, reviewing and processing departmental records in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1991
- Preparing FOI determinations within statutory time limits
- Consulting with clients, legal officers and departmental officers to facilitate determinations and reviews
- Assisting with the preparation of briefings and advice in relation to FOI applications
- Maintaining accurate records and producing relevant statistics for annual reporting purposes

Qualifications:
Essential: Accredited and Non-accredited FOI Officer training through State Records of South Australia
