The Role

Are you passionate about information governance and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements? The Town of Port Hedland is seeking a skilled and motivated Records and Information Officer to join our team.

In this role, you will deliver high-quality records and information management services that support organisational compliance and drive best-practice initiatives. You’ll partner with stakeholders across the organisation to embed effective records management processes, lead digitisation and archival projects, and provide expert advice on privacy and responsible information sharing.

If you have experience in records or information management, strong attention to detail, and a collaborative approach, we want to hear from you. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to continuous improvement and play a key role in shaping the Town’s information management framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate capture and maintenance of records in approved systems.
  • Support compliance with the State Records Act 2000, Local Government Act 1995, and other relevant legislation.
  • Processing of Freedom of Information (FOI) applications
  • Lead digitisation initiatives and manage archival services.
  • Provide advice and training to staff on best-practice records management.
  • Act as a central point of contact for privacy and data-sharing inquiries.

Work Related Requirements:
The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:

  • Certificate III or IV in Information Management (or related discipline) and/or demonstrated experience in records and information management.
  • Proficiency in electronic records systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence and National Police Clearance.
