DPC Members Unconference: Last Call for Member-Led Sessions and Program Updates!

The DPC Members Unconference and Networking Event is the highlight of the DPC calendar and a DPC member EXCLUSIVE event which will take place face-to-face over the course of two days. In addition to meeting and networking with other members of the Coalition, we will have an exciting program of fast-paced member led talks and discussions, giving you the opportunity to take the floor and exchange ideas, showcase work and discuss key themes.

Last call for member-led sessions:

  1. CLOSING NEXT WEEK Suggest a member-led session: Whether you have work to share, a task you want to work on with others, a fresh idea or solution you want to demo, or topics you want to discuss to learn from others’ experience, this part of the program provides a space for you to achieve all of this. Please pitch your ideas and we’ll fill in the (currently blank) program for you to make the most of the Coalition’s collective digital preservation expertise. You are welcome to collaborate on a session with a colleague or another Member. DPC Staff can be available to assist in certain sessions if required. Program Updates

  1. Thanks to our local DPC Members in Dublin, we now have two exciting professional visits to offer you on the evening of Tuesday 28 May:

·        Visit to the Guinness Archive, followed by a tour (and pint) of the Guinness Storehouse (15 maximum)

·        Visit to the Irish Traditional Music Archive (10 maximum)

Professional visits are strictly limited to the numbers indicated, attendance will be on a first come first served basis and will be confirmed by the host organisation. If you would like to attend one of the visits, please contact [email protected] in the first instance.

  1. Expressions of interest sought – Would you be interested in attending a Digital Preservationists Anonymous (Fail Club) session on the evening on Monday 27th May, approx. 5.00-6.30pm?!

Digital Preservationists Anonymous brings together DPC members to share the mistakes made, the pain suffered, and the challenges encountered on our digital preservation journeys. We discuss how to learn from those experiences and move forward. This is a chance to reflect on things that have not gone as well as we liked, to consider the difficult challenges we’ve been attempting to solve, but more importantly it will also be an opportunity to take a positive approach to this work and to find ways to make progress by helping each other.

These events have some ground rules. Unsurprisingly, the first rule is the Chatham House Rule. The second rule of Digital Preservationists Anonymous is that you must share with the group. All attendees should present a 'fail' to the group - this may be a challenge, a setback or simply something that didn't quite go to plan. After hearing these 'fails' from the attendees, we’ll discuss those issues, and work out how to learn from them and solve them. We need minimum numbers to make this event viable, so if you would like to participate AND have a fail to share, please let me know by Tuesday 16 April.

Registration for this event will remain open until Tuesday 21 May: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/dpc/1188501
