AI is changing how organisational information is created, located, summarised, classified, analysed and used in decision-making. It is also entering information-management practice directly — supporting classification, metadata, search, appraisal, retention, migration and access work. This creates real opportunities to improve how IM work gets done, alongside new questions about reliability, judgement and oversight.
This roundtable explores where AI can add value to IM practice. Participants will hear from practitioners already applying AI in real organisational settings, identify practical use cases for their own work and develop actions to investigate, trial or progress AI within their information-management practice.
This is a working session, not a passive briefing. You'll leave with a practical AI use case to explore, a clear understanding of what it takes to apply AI reliably to IM work and at least one action to bring back to your organisation.
Information and records managers, archivists and other information professionals who want to understand — and start shaping — how AI is applied to information-management practice.
❯ Practical use cases for AI across IM practice including classification, metadata, search and discovery, appraisal, retention and disposal, migration and access
❯ The information foundations, including quality, context, accessibility, metadata, that determine whether AI can be applied reliably to an IM task
❯ Where professional judgement and human oversight remain essential when AI supports or automates IM work
❯ Practical actions to investigate, trial or progress an AI-supported use case in your own organisation
