Star Wars! May the Force be with you.
The rebels and Jedis get the importance of records! How many times have they broken into Imperial fortresses to steal blueprints? OK, so there are some access and privacy issues with their tactics, but they see the need for creation, preservation, systems and their value to re-use as required.
While I liken myself to R2-D2 (who can forget his preservation techniques with the "you are my only hope Obi-Wan Kenobi" message), my records management strategies are far more compliant than my heroes.
I have been involved with EDRMS implementations; system administration; created a Retention and Disposal Schedule; written many governance documents; and conducted many training sessions for systems and records management theory. During all of this, I have kept up my involvement in the hands on processes as well: from creation to sentencing and destruction.
