Appraisal, Sentencing and Archiving, what does this all mean? We all want to get it right!
There will be a time when certain records will no longer be required, and we will need to know what to do and how to do it.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of this workshop, you should be able to:
- Define and understand archival terminology
- Familiarise yourself with retention and disposal schedules
- Understand why we archive records
- Understand the sentencing process
- Learn what metadata is important for archiving
- Look at the differences between paper and digital records
- Know about disposal triggers and the steps needed to carry out disposal
Note that active participation is essential to benefit from the session fully, and no recordings will be provided in order to preserve the workshop's integrity and interactivity.
