We have more data available to us than ever before, but much of it is not used in data storytelling. This presentation unpacks the skills of data storytelling, both in terms of identifying insights and thinking about action. In this session we'll adopt the personas of two business people, one inside the organisation and one outside, we'll step through what to expect when sending an email and document that carry information protections and what it's like for recipient to receive and gain access to the information.

I came late to the GLAM world after raising my son and I enrolled at CSU two days before Melbourne was locked down. I chose to specialise in records and archives after taking a couple of the RAM subjects and seeing the enthusiasm of my lecturers. I started work with Casey Cardinia Libraries as a customer experience officer in 2022."I worked at State Library Victoria for 13 years in digitisation when I was encouraged to undertake a Master of Information Studies. Through the course, so many things fell into place for me, and I realised that this was the career path for me. I think I have been a latent Archivist all my life. I am now the Coordinator of Archives at La Trobe University."
The constant thread of my career has always been to enable people to access the information they seek to support their personal growth, knowledge, and participation in society. The MIS complements my IT, teaching, literacy, and community development knowledge to support ongoing informed access to authentic and reliable information.
