Purview in Practice: A Hands-On Look at Retention Labelling

Our presenter, Karl Maftoum, will give a practical demonstration of Microsoft Purview. The session is designed for information managers new to Purview who may not yet have licensing for all its features, so rather than a broad tour of the platform, it's a narrow, hands-on walkthrough of the retention labelling workflow.
Karl will start by navigating to Purview and showing how retention labels are created, including building a label directly from a disposal schedule, and where Purview's automation stops and manual judgement is still needed. He'll then show how a label is assigned to a site or library, how that flows through to SharePoint to tag records, and the common gaps and failure points to watch for.
The session will also cover what a resulting compliance report looks like and what an IM professional needs to action from it, where IM input matters in configuration decisions, and a brief look at the licensing model, including what's included at different tiers.
