We’re looking for a detail‑focused and customer‑centred Information Governance Officer to support Council’s Right to Information (RTI), Information Privacy (IP) and recordkeeping functions, acting as a key point of contact for stakeholders and help to ensure our statutory obligations are met.
What you’ll bring
You’ll have experience in Right to Information, Information Privacy, Information Governance or administrative decision‑making, along with the ability to locate, analyse and interpret large volumes of complex or sensitive information.
Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking and the ability to manage competing deadlines are essential, as you’ll be working within strict legislative timeframes. You’ll have well‑developed communication skills and a commitment to high‑quality customer service, confidentiality and positive stakeholder relationships. Experience delivering informal training or guidance is valued, and qualifications in recordkeeping or information management are desirable.
Candidates
with demonstrated experience assessing applications under the RTI Act 2009 and Information Privacy Act 2009 will be highly regarded.
What you’ll be doing
- Acting as the first point of contact for enquiries relating to privacy and Right to Information.
- Assisting with the processing of RTI and IP applications, including research, coordination and legislative
- assessments.
- Preparing clear and accurate written decision notices, applying exemptions and outlining review rights.
- Conducting and/or leading third‑party consultations, including managing complex or sensitive matters.
- Managing secure release processes, disclosure logs and publication scheme updates.
- Liaising with the Office of the Information Commissioner and implementing advice or directives.
- Maintaining detailed records of all application‑related activities and correspondence.
- Delivering and supporting training on privacy, Right to Information, recordkeeping and compliance.
- Monitoring and maintaining procedures, quality systems and recordkeeping integrity.
- Staying up to date with legislative changes and sharing relevant updates with stakeholders.
- Supporting broader Information Governance and recordkeeping duties as required.
