Information Services
The Information Services team supports the effective governance, security and lifecycle management of Council’s corporate information. Working closely with internal stakeholders and partner councils, the team ensures Council meets its legislative obligations while continuously improving how information is captured, stored, accessed and used to support service delivery and decision‑making. East Gippsland Shire Council and Wellington Shire Council work in collaboration to deliver shared information management services, ensuring consistent, compliant and efficient practices across both organisations.
The Opportunity
As the Team Lead Corporate Information, you will provide operational leadership and specialist expertise within the Information Management team, supporting the delivery of compliant, efficient and customer‑focused information management services across both East Gippsland Shire Council and Wellington Shire Council.
You will work closely with the Coordinator Information Management Services to lead day‑to‑day operations, mentor team members, and support strategic improvement initiatives across information governance, records management and digital systems. The role also acts as second in charge, contributing to service continuity and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the day‑to‑day operations of the Information Management team, providing guidance, mentoring and operational support.
- Ensure Council’s records and information are managed in compliance with legislative, regulatory and security requirements.
- Oversee administration, access control and staff training for Council’s Electronic Document and Records Management System (EDRMS).
- Provide specialist advice and support to staff on information governance, recordkeeping and best practice.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, audits, disposal and archiving programs, and collaborative partner arrangements.
What we're looking for:
- Demonstrated experience in records and information management, including legislative compliance and application of Public Records Office Victoria standards.
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience, with the ability to mentor staff and manage competing priorities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear advice and build effective working relationships.
- Experience administering or supporting EDRMS or similar corporate information systems.
- Well‑developed organisational and problem‑solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and customer service.
- Established proficiency in the development, and implementation of strategy and policy.
- Highly developed management skills, demonstrated through the ability to manage a diverse range of conflicting priorities whilst delivering milestones.
