Sarah has spent nearly two decades working at the intersection of corporate governance and information governance across local, state, and federal government, as well as the utilities, health, law enforcement, regulation and education sectors.
Her focus has always been on making governance frameworks not just compliant, but practical and usable in complex environments. She is passionate about strengthening capability across the industry and supporting professionals to meet real-world challenges in both legacy and digital environments.
Career highlights include developing and implementing enterprise-wide information governance strategies in government organisations; contributing to the national program for Work Health and Safety legislative harmonisation, giving all Australians a fairer chance of returning home safely from work; managing and maintaining corporate information and cabinet information, and supporting commissions of inquiry by designing governance strategies for secure evidence protocols, transparency, and alignment with archival obligations.
Sarah has also delivered large-scale data migration programs, bridging executive vision with operational execution across both legacy and cloud systems; and has led and contributed to many digital transformation projects.
In local government, Sarah worked as Executive Officer to the CEO and Mayor, supporting governance functions, managing council and board meetings, engaging with stakeholders, and coordinating the regional organisation of councils across the NSW mid-north coast. She then moved into the role of Information Governance Manager, where her passion for information management firmly took shape. Earlier in her career, she also worked in youth services, supporting young people unable to live at home—an experience that grounded her belief in the importance of people’s voices in shaping policy.
More recently, Sarah’s work has focused on privacy-conscious governance, balancing compliance with the protection of people’s rights. Her core perspective is: “How fundamental information is to governance, and how fundamental governance is to managing information.”
