Challenges in Recordkeeping within the Australian Public Service

Currently, RIMPA Global is actively engaging with Parliament and the media through various communications to emphasise the significance and enhancement of recordkeeping practices within the APS. Despite recommendations from recent royal commission reports advocating for improvements in records management, there seems to be little to no progress in this area. Recognising that changes in legislation, organisational culture, and processes take time, RIMPA Global urges the initiation of discussions to eventually reach a positive outcome.

RIMPA Global's proposed actions include:

  • Revising the 1983 Archives Act to explicitly address the management of digital records and data.
  • Establishing a task force composed of stakeholders to explore and discuss strategies for enhancing APS recordkeeping practices.

Don't miss this opportunity to gain valuable insight from the panel discussion with leading professionals exploring the challenges faced by the APS in recordkeeping. David Fricker, Julie Carpenter MRIM, and Thomas Kaufhold Life MRIM will be joining as panellists, with Anne Cornish Life MRIM as the facilitator. The session will include a Q&A session, allowing all participants to voice their concerns and propose solutions. The purpose of this webinar is to unite members around a common purpose and leverage collective action for a bigger voice!
