Australia Appoints New Cyber Affairs Ambassador
With over 20 years of experience at the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), Hunter brings deep expertise in national security, cyber operations and international collaboration. She previously served as First Assistant Director-General at the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC), and has completed postings with the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and the US National Security Agency (NSA).
Announcing the appointment, Minister for Foreign Affairs Penny Wong emphasised that cyber and critical technologies impact every facet of international relations. In her new role, Hunter will lead Australia’s international cyber engagement, strengthening capacity, resilience and incident response across the Indo-Pacific.
Hunter will also oversee delivery of Australia’s 2023–2030 Cyber Security Strategy, positioning the nation as a trusted and influential global cyber leader in Southeast Asia and the Pacific.
