Become a Mentor at the 2026 RIMPA Global Hackathon

Help Shape the Future of Information Management

The future of information management will not be built by technology alone - it will be shaped by the people willing to guide, challenge, and inspire the next generation of innovators. That is why mentors are at the heart of the RIMPA Global Hackathon 2026.

On Monday, 19 & 20 October 2026, passionate professionals from across the information management, governance, compliance, AI, archives, and technology sectors will come together for an exciting day of collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving. The Hackathon is more than just an event - it is a space where ideas are tested, innovation is encouraged, and the future of the profession is explored in real time.

This year’s challenge asks participants to tackle one of the most important and timely issues facing organisations today:

How might we build information management know-how into AI so that users can better recognise and manage bias, misinformation, and disinformation?

As artificial intelligence continues to transform the way information is created, accessed, and trusted, the need for ethical, informed, and well-governed AI has never been greater. Participants will work together to create innovative solutions that help organisations and communities navigate this rapidly evolving landscape.

Why Mentors Matter

Behind every great idea is often someone who asked the right question, offered encouragement at the right moment, or helped a team see a challenge from a different perspective. That is the role mentors play at the RIMPA Global Hackathon.

Mentors are not expected to have all the answers. Instead, they provide guidance, industry insight, support, and encouragement to teams as they brainstorm and develop their ideas throughout the day. Whether helping participants think strategically, refine concepts, or challenge assumptions, mentors become an essential part of the innovation journey.

For many students and emerging professionals, having direct access to experienced industry practitioners can be incredibly valuable. A simple conversation with a mentor can spark confidence, open career pathways, and inspire entirely new ways of thinking.

Your experience could be the catalyst that helps a team create something extraordinary.

An Opportunity to Inspire and Learn

One of the most exciting aspects of mentoring is that it is not a one-way experience.

While participants gain insight and support from mentors, mentors themselves are often inspired by the creativity, passion, and fresh thinking that teams bring to the event. Hackathons create an environment where new ideas emerge quickly, traditional thinking is challenged, and innovation thrives.

Mentoring offers the opportunity to:

  • Support and guide emerging talent
  • Share your expertise and industry knowledge
  • Discover fresh perspectives and innovative ideas
  • Contribute to the future direction of information management
  • Be part of meaningful conversations around AI, ethics, and governance
  • Help foster collaboration across the profession

Many mentors leave the Hackathon energised by the experience, having gained new ideas and valuable professional connections of their own.
