Call for Applicants: DPC Travel Grant for No Time to Wait 7 Conference in Prague

The DPC is pleased to offer Career Development Fund travel grants to support DPC members attending the 7th edition of The No Time To Wait Conference (#NTTW7), which will be hosted by the Národní filmový archiv and MediaArea.net on November 8th – 10th 2023 at Kino NFA Ponrepo in Prague, Czechia

This grant will contribute funding to help with the costs of travel for DPC Members attending the conference in person. Applications are welcomed from all DPC Members until the grant application deadline of 7:00 UTC on 11th July 2023. More details are provided below.

About The No Time to Wait Conference

The seventh edition of the No Time to Wait conference will be hosted by the Národní filmový archiv and MediaArea.net on November 8th – 10th 2023 at Kino NFA Ponrepo in Prague.

No Time to Wait is a free three-day conference focused on open media, open standards, and digital audiovisual preservation managed by MediaArea.net. No Time to Wait has been a conference that blends in-person and online participation and this year shall work to emphasize online participation in response to the social, travel, and financial restrictions related to the pandemic.

The conference features presentations and discussion on topics that include:  

  • developing collaborative initiatives to preserve media
  • efforts to extend capabilities and opportunities within archives
  • active open media standardization projects
  • seeking consensus in audiovisual preservation strategy
  • examination of open media use in film and video digitization
  • integration of open source tools into archival workflow
  • examples of cross-community collaboration and skill-sharing
  • developments in open media

About the DPC Career Development Fund Grant

This DPC Career Development Fund Travel Grant will provide funding to help support the costs of travel for DPC members attending the No Time To Wait 7 conference in person.

The Travel Grant will provide a contribution towards travel to supplement in-person attendance, with amounts offered up to the following limits:

  • Domestic travel (within Czechia) - £150 GBP  
  • Intra-Continental travel - £300 GBP
  • Inter-Continental travel - £750 GBP

Eligibility

DPC Members are eligible to apply for this Career Development Fund grant. This includes prospective members whose request to join is approved by the application deadline of 07:00 UTC on 11th July 2023. The grant is not available to non-members. For information about joining the DPC, see https://www.dpconline.org/about/join-us.

Please note that only one grant is available per member. In other words, DPC members may submit a maximum of one application for one applicant for this advertised travel grant (e.g., one application for a person representing a DPC member organization). We recommend that any member organization which supports an application discusses appropriate outcomes and benefits for the organization prior to submission. Moreover, because only one grant is available per member institution, we recommend that applicants ensure that they are not inadvertently competing with colleagues.

  • All sections of the application form should be completed and returned to Amy Currie ([email protected]), accompanied by explicit approval for attendance from a supervisor via email or attached letter, by 7:00 UTC on 11th July 2023 (click here to see the deadline in your local time).  
  • Please note that only one grant is available per member per call. In other words, DPC members may submit a maximum of one application for one applicant for this advertised No Time to Wait grant. There cannot be multiple applicants representing the same DPC member organization, so please coordinate with colleagues to ensure one application is submitted.

Important Dates
