Call for contributions are now open for the upcoming joint Australian Society of Archivists (ASA)Archives & Records Association of New Zealand Te Huinga Mahara (ARANZ), and Pacific Regional Branch International Council on Archives (PARBICA) conference Opening the Archives: Access, Engagement, Innovation.

The conference will be held in Ōtautahi | Christchurch, Aotearoa | New Zealand at the Te Pae Christchurch Conference Centre from 22-25 October 2024.

The conference theme

Opening the archives: share your experiences and strategies for achieving this through access, engagement or other innovative avenues. 

The conference aims to bring together a wide range of views on what ‘opening’ the archives means; how this has been, or might be, achieved, and when it should not. It is also a space to explore the challenges and opportunities posed by new technologies, increased accessibility, and the acknowledgement of historical and cultural sensibilities.

Submissions

Submissions are encouraged from all who engage with archives: students, new professionals, experienced archivists and recordkeepers, information professionals, academics, researchers, artists, and community members.

Proposals may include:

  • Posters
  • Project shows and tells
  • Lightning talks
  • iIndividual papers
  • Interactive presentations
  • Panels
  • Workshops. 

There are opportunities to present online or in-person.
