Celebrating Outgoing and Welcoming Incoming Board Members at ARMA International

It is the time of year we want to thank our outgoing board members and welcome our incoming board members. As Michael Haley, Past-President, rolls off the board, I want to thank Michael for his vision, leadership, and outstanding work for ARMA International. Michael has been essential in creating opportunities for ARMA and in the progress ARMA has made during his service on the ARMA International Board of Directors. Tyrene Bada, Director, is also rolling off the board this month. I want to thank Tyrene for her leadership, dedication, and enthusiasm for our association and profession with which she has served exceptionally on the ARMA International Board of Directors.
Congratulations to Wendy McLain for such an outstanding year serving as President of the ARMA International Board of Directors. Wendy has been instrumental in the success of the ARMA International initiatives this past year. I look forward to working with Wendy this coming year as she continues her service on the board as Director and is our ARMA Past-President.
I am truly excited and honored to address you as the new Chair of our esteemed board. I want to start by extending a warm welcome to our two new board members, Jim Merrifield, Vice Chair, and Jacqueline Bigelow, Director. Your expertise, passion, and dedication will undoubtedly add great value to our organisation.
This year you will note that the officer roles on the Board of Directors have been revised. Over the past several years, our board has been exploring opportunities to provide more consistency for future leadership and the ability to maintain the strategic direction of the organisation. With that exploration, we looked to identify good practices of organisations in the professional membership association space that align with the growth and focus of ARMA International.
As such, updates have been made to our organisation’s bylaws that reflect officer roles and elections to be more aligned with industry standards and provide consistency in leadership within ARMA. Those changes were approved at our recent June board meeting. You can find the full listing of the board of directors here.
As we begin this new year, I am pleased to announce the promotion of Nate Hughes to the position of Chief Executive Officer. His promotion comes in recognition of his continued leadership and significant contributions to ARMA International, including the formation of strong international partnerships, and leading the integration of the MER Conference into the ARMA International brand family. Nate will continue to build upon the solid foundation he has helped create at ARMA International. A key part of this includes continued expansion of support provided to members, globally, of ARMA International. This will also include further progress with the newly created Global Information Consortium, co-founded by ARMA International and RIMPA Global.
What an exciting year we have ahead! The ARMA Canada Information Conference in Toronto kicks off in less than a week. We stand to gain so much from this conference. It's an opportunity to keep abreast with the latest trends, meet industry leaders, and explore potential collaborations.
Ahead we also have InfoCon 2023! This year InfoCon is certain to be exciting in Detroit! Let’s make this year a success by expanding our knowledge of the RIM/IG space and collaborating on the challenges facing organisations today. Register now for InfoCon 2023 and get this Information in Motion!
Let's use this momentum to propel our organisation into a future filled with success and achievements. We are a team and a community and together, we can influence and make significant improvements.
