Certification Insights – From One Member to Another

Thinking about getting certified but not sure where to start? A fellow member has laid it all out with honest, helpful answers to the questions everyone’s asking.

Since launching the RIMPA Certification Program, we’ve received fantastic questions from across our member community. One of our long-time members, Bethany Sinclair-Giardini CXRIM MRIM recently took the time to share her personal insights in the RIMPA Community Forum, answering some of the most commonly asked questions from her fellow practitioners.

We loved how clearly she broke things down – and we thought it was too good not to share! Whether you're considering certification or just curious, her responses offer helpful, practical guidance from someone who’s been in your shoes.

💬 How do I know which level to apply for?
“If you currently hold an ARIM, MRIM, or FRIM status, your corresponding certification level would likely be Experienced, Skilled, or Expert. But if you’re planning to upgrade your membership, do that first – it can save you an upgrade fee later.”

💬 I’m an ARIM now but planning to go for MRIM. Should I wait?
“Yes! Go for your MRIM first. Since that process involves providing evidence against the NAA standards, it aligns well with the Skilled level of certification. Once approved, you can apply straight at that level.”

💬 What’s the real benefit of certification?
“This is a great tool if you're applying for new roles or looking to progress. It gives employers a clear signal that you’ve reached a recognised skills standard within the profession.”

💬 How does the process work?
“You enrol, gain access to the online platform, and complete an externally assessed exam. Your score determines whether you pass – it’s straightforward and focused on your existing practical knowledge.”

💬 How does this compare to a Diploma or university course?
“This is based on workplace experience, not academic theory. It’s ideal for those who’ve learned on the job but might not have formal qualifications. That said, both routes have value – it’s about what supports your career best.”

💬 Can I benefit if I already have a degree?
“Absolutely. Having a degree is great, but this certification proves your hands-on ability. As someone who’s hired for senior roles, I can say that proven, practical experience often gives candidates the edge.”

💬 How long does it last?
“Certifications are valid for three years, with the option to renew.”

We’re so grateful to Bethany for sharing her experience and supporting her peers. It’s voices like hers that make RIMPA’s community so strong.
