Introducing Strategy 2025–2030: Evolving National Archives
Developed in response to a rapidly changing environment, the strategy recognises the growing importance of trusted information in an era of evolving technologies and increasing disinformation. It outlines a practical and achievable roadmap to strengthen capability, improve access, and enhance the way government information is managed, preserved and shared.
The strategy is structured across four key focus areas:
- Evolve – Working better together: Strengthening organisational capability and delivering improved stakeholder outcomes
- Enable – Strategic leadership in information management: Uplifting engagement with government agencies to improve information management maturity
- Secure – Managing an evolving collection: Safeguarding and optimising the national archival collection
- Connect – Fostering access and engagement: Enhancing access and delivering meaningful engagement experiences
Importantly, the strategy also supports the Australian Government’s National Cultural Policy, Revive, with a strong focus on First Nations perspectives, improving access to collections, and preserving records of enduring significance.
As the National Archives continues its transformation, this strategy reinforces its critical role in preserving Australia’s national memory, supporting transparency and accountability, and ensuring trusted records are accessible for generations to come.
