ICA Webinar to Explore Practical Strategies for Preserving Endangered Archives

What happens when valuable archives are at risk of being lost due to limited resources, lack of infrastructure or environmental threats?

On Thursday, 28 May 2026, the ICA Section for Archives of Faith Traditions (SAFT) will host the webinar Endangered Archives: Practical Preservation Strategies for Faith-Based and Community Archives, bringing together international experts to share practical approaches to digitisation and preservation in low-resource environments.

The session will feature speakers from the British Library Endangered Archives Programme and the UCLA Modern Endangered Archives Program, covering topics including emergency digitisation, metadata creation, sustainable preservation workflows and community-led archival practices.

Designed for archivists, records professionals and community organisations, the webinar will provide real-world case studies and practical guidance for protecting vulnerable collections and preserving cultural heritage.

Speakers include Tatiana Vagramenko, Judith Riquelme, Jody Butterworth and Rachel Deblinger, moderated by Emilie Gagnet Leumas.
