Even on a mission as advanced as Artemis II, some problems remain surprisingly familiar. IT issues, it turns out, are not limited to Earth.

During the early stages of the mission, astronauts aboard Artemis II encountered a frustrating but relatable challenge: a Microsoft Outlook malfunction. Commander Reid Wiseman reportedly had multiple instances of Outlook running on a Microsoft Surface Pro device, creating confusion and disrupting email access.

To resolve the issue, the crew had to call on mission control in Houston for remote technical support. After gaining access to the device, the ground team worked through the problem and restored functionality, a process that took around an hour.

The moment, captured during a NASA livestream, highlights a simple truth. Even in one of the most technologically sophisticated environments imaginable, everyday software challenges persist.

While the mission continues to focus on its historic journey around the Moon, the Outlook incident serves as a reminder that digital tools, no matter how widely used or relied upon, are never immune to disruption.

From corporate offices to spacecraft orbiting Earth, the experience is universal. Sometimes, even astronauts need IT support.
