Established in honour of the late Bernadette Bean, this prestigious award celebrates the often-unsung professionals whose dedication, leadership, innovation and commitment to service excellence strengthen organisations and communities across South Australia.

The award recognises excellence across a broad range of disciplines, including records, information and knowledge management, archives management, and library, museum, history and cultural heritage collections management. Eligible nominees may come from state, federal and local government, health services, educational institutions, cultural organisations, community groups, volunteer organisations and the not-for-profit sector.

Celebrating Excellence and Innovation

Nominations are encouraged for individuals and teams who have demonstrated measurable impact, best practice or continuous improvement through initiatives such as:

  • Strengthening governance, preservation, digitisation and digital access frameworks
  • Advancing technology, digital transformation and innovation, including ECM, EDRMS, workflow automation, dashboards and AI-enabled solutions
  • Leading organisational change, collaboration, mentoring and knowledge sharing
  • Delivering research, projects, capability-building initiatives and sector-wide improvements

Whether they are emerging professionals, experienced leaders, dedicated volunteers, students, retired practitioners or high-performing teams, this award provides an opportunity to celebrate those whose work often takes place behind the scenes but delivers lasting value.
