According to the latest figures, 532 data breaches were reported between January and June 2025, marking a 10% decrease from the previous reporting period. Malicious or criminal attacks remain the leading cause, accounting for 59% of all breaches, while the health sector continues to be the most affected industry at 18% of reports.

A Practical Resource for IM and Privacy Professionals

More than just a statistical tool, the dashboard offers meaningful insights to help organisations strengthen their information protection and privacy practices.

For records and information managers, the dashboard provides:

  • Trend visibility to understand emerging threats and vulnerabilities

  • Cause analysis to identify weak points across processes and systems

  • Risk insights to inform stronger policies, controls and governance

  • Support for privacy-by-design, operational resilience and improved decision-making

By reviewing breach patterns across industries, IM professionals can refine access controls, reinforce secure handling practices and champion a culture where information is treated as a high-value asset.
