OAIC Privacy Self-Assessment Tool Helps Build Stronger Privacy Practices
The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) has developed a free Privacy Foundations self-assessment tool to help organisations strengthen their privacy practices and build greater trust with customers and stakeholders.
Designed for businesses looking to improve their privacy culture, the tool provides a 15 to 20-minute self-assessment covering key privacy principles. Upon completion, organisations receive a privacy maturity score along with tailored recommendations to help improve their policies, procedures and day-to-day privacy management.
While the tool does not assess compliance with the Privacy Act 1988, it offers a practical starting point for organisations seeking to strengthen their privacy governance and identify areas for improvement. The OAIC also notes that the results can be used to inform the development of a broader Privacy Management Plan.
