Our Wise Leaders: Peter Smith
As a part of the OWLs (Our Wise Leaders) feature series, we're present the remarkable Peter Smith! With an illustrious path, Peter's story is one of transformation and leadership.
After 38 years in local government Records and Information management, Peter transitioned into education, becoming a TAFE NSW teacher. His ascent led to the role of Information Industry Services Specialist, where he pioneered Commercial Programs.
Peter's impact extended globally. As a member of the original Standards Development committee, he shaped records management. He developed nationwide Records and Information modules, spoke at key conferences, and trained in developing nations. His contributions expanded as a Member of the NSW Library Association Branch Council.
In leadership roles, Peter shone. He served as RIMPA President, received Life and Fellow titles, and led the International Records Management Council. His dedication was recognized with the Emmett Leahy International Award and Eddis Linton Outstanding Individual award.
