Making the case for digital preservation remains the biggest challenge for many practitioners, with many organisations having little or no funding dedicated to the activity. But how can we make progress without reliable, sustainable funding for essential requirements like staffing, storage, and software (be it individual tools and/or a repository system)? At some point in their digital preservation journey, most practitioners will need to develop and present a business case to help advocate for the resources they need.

In this training session, we will introduce key advocacy issues and approaches before delving into the DPC’s Business Case Toolkit and how it can be used to support the creation of a business case for digital preservation within your organisation.
