RIMPA at ISO meeting in Berlin

RIMPA CEO Anne Cornish has returned from the ISO meeting in Berlin grinning with success.

Presenting to various countries who were in Berlin to attend the annual ISO meeting, both Anne Cornish and Michael Haley from ARMA teamed up to demonstrate the importance of a potential partnership between the newly formed Global Information Consortium (GIC) and ISO TC46 and SC11. (For those who don’t know, ISO TC46 is the technical committee for information and documentation and ISO TC46 SC11 refers specifically to archives and records management.)

The partnership is aimed at the GIC promoting the importance of standards to IM Associations/organisations across the world whilst encouraging education and training to members.

It was also an opportunity to encourage countries like Sweden, Africa, Korea, Japan, Netherlands, China, Canada and more to become involved in the GIC and contribute to advocating on global challenges currently impacting the IM industry.

In addition to representing the GIC, it was great to see the Australian contingent of Adrian Cunningham, Catherine Robinson, May Robertson, Tony Leviston, Michelle Tolliday (SC11 Chair) and RIMPA’s nominated represented in Stephen Clarke at this meeting. Like their predecessors, Australia continues to be leaders in the creation and adoption of ISO Standards for Archives and Records.

The GIC would like to thank SC 11 Chair Michelle Tolliday and TC46 Chairperson Gregory Miura for allowing us the opportunity to present to this amazing group of global thought leaders.
