Since its launch in 2024, the RIMPA Global Hackathon has become a flagship event for professionals, students and innovators looking to shape the future of the profession. This year, teams will once again compete for a share of the spotlight and the chance to win a $10,000 prize.

The 2026 challenge asks participants to explore a critical question:

How can information management knowledge be embedded into AI to help organisations identify and manage bias, misinformation and disinformation?

As AI becomes increasingly integrated into workplaces, the risks associated with inaccurate, misleading or manipulated information continue to grow. Participants will be challenged to develop innovative solutions that help strengthen trust, improve information quality and support responsible AI use.

Teams may propose methodologies, strategies, protocols, standards, digital tools or entirely new approaches to addressing the challenge. Supported by industry mentors and judged by an independent panel of experts, participants will have the opportunity to test ideas, build valuable connections and showcase their skills on a national stage.

The Hackathon begins on 19 October 2026 in Sydney, with finalist presentations taking place the following day. The winning team will be announced at the prestigious RIMPA Live 2026 Diamond Ball on 21 October in front of more than 500 industry professionals.

Whether you're an experienced practitioner, student, technologist or creative problem solver, the RIMPA Global Hackathon 2026 is your opportunity to collaborate, innovate and help shape the future of information management.
