RIMPA Global, represented by Chair, Bonita Kennedy and CEO, Anne Cornish, actively participated in international discussions at the GIC and the ARA Conference this week.

The four-day ARA Conference commenced on Tuesday, 26 August, and featured diverse sessions spanning both Archives and Records Management. A highlight was a presentation by Joy Siller, RIMPA Ambassador, who spoke to a full house (standing room only) on the environmental challenges and carbon footprint associated with Information Management. Her insights were particularly relevant in the lead-up to the October Hackathon in Australia, inspiring delegates to consider team participation.

Our CEO, Anne Cornish, delivered an interactive session on reshaping skills for the future, prompting UK delegates to reflect on how they can take proactive, rather than reactive, approaches in their professional development.

Collaboration has been at the heart of this visit. RIMPA Global joined with our new and long-standing partners, ARA (UK & Northern Ireland) and ARMA (USA), to progress joint initiatives. This included a meeting of the Global Information Consortium (GIC), where representatives from multiple countries advanced the consortium’s objectives. The GIC, alongside RIMPA Global and others, continue to support the Information Asset Research Project led by James Price (Experience Matters, South Australia). James, who self-funded his attendance, shared updates and encouraged further international engagement in this critical research.

A tri-partner panel session featuring Bonita Kennedy (AUS), James Price (AUS), Michael Haley (USA), Jacqueline Stockwell (UK), and John Chambers (UK) was facilitated by Anne Cornish. The session explored global IM challenges, with technology, education, and the accessibility of international standards emerging as leading concerns. Such was the depth of discussion and delegate engagement that the 80-minute session concluded with more still to be said.

While in the UK, we also met with training partners LTD to review and expand our collaborative programs, ensuring additional high-quality training opportunities will be available to RIMPA Global members.

We extend our thanks to Bonita and Anne for their dedication to these important global engagements. Bonita kindly incorporated this commitment into her personal holiday with her daughter, self-funding her involvement, while Anne returns home to Australia to continue driving RIMPA Global’s important work.

RIMPA Global continues to strengthen global relationships and proudly demonstrates to the world its position as a forerunner in Information Management.
