Munaa Said and David Robinson Representing RIMPA Global in Kenya!

A huge thank you to David Robinson for joining Munaa Said, Principal Trainer and Assessor, in representing RIMPA Global at the 9th KARMA Annual Records Management Conference in Mombasa, Kenya, from 3–7 November 2025.

During the week, Munaa successfully delivered a Train the Trainer session for all mentees and helped launch the SheLead program, while both David and Munaa also presented at the conference, sharing their expertise with the broader records and information management community.

With the theme “Unlocking Smart Government,” the conference brought together records and information professionals from across Africa to explore how technology, data and good governance can work together to improve public services, transparency and community outcomes.

What Does “Unlocking Smart Government” Mean?

Smart government focuses on using technology and data to make government more simple, responsive, transparent and efficient. It’s not just about putting services online — it’s about improving how government operates, makes decisions and serves its community.

Back in 2013, the Smart Africa Alliance was launched to fast-track digital transformation across the continent through better access to broadband and digital technologies. Since then, Kenya has continued to lead with its Digital Master Plan (2022–2032), which aims to:

  • Digitise 80% of government services

  • Strengthen digital infrastructure

  • Expand digital learning across education

  • Build a digitally empowered society

At the centre of all of this is strong records and information management. Without trusted data, proper recordkeeping and sound information governance, smart government simply can’t succeed. This is where our profession plays such a critical role.

A Proud Moment for RIMPA Global and Our Mentees

Seeing David and Munaa represent RIMPA Global on the international stage, while also supporting our KARMA mentees, was a proud moment for everyone involved. Their contribution highlighted the value of shared learning, leadership and global connection within our profession.

Thanks again to both of you for flying the RIMPA flag so proudly and supporting the next generation of information management professionals.
