The Global Information Consortium (GIC) is a reality!

Find out more about this important update from the RIMPA and ARMA Boards,

The RIMPA Board are excited to announce that both the RIMPA and ARMA Boards have approved the Global Consortium framework presented by the taskforce. This is a significant milestone in the development of our profession, as it establishes a new entity named Global Information Consortium (GIC).

The vision for GIC is to create a global community that will advocate for the effective and ethical management of information. A world where information management is embedded in the corporate and government footprint.

The mission of GIC is to advocate for best practices in information management, leveraging collective expertise to raise
awareness of the importance of information governance and to influence policy at the local, national, and international levels.

The Global Consortium Taskforce agreed to set achievable goals and strategies for the ensuing two years with the intent that the proposed Global Council will influence the direction of GIC beyond 2025. The three goals include:

  • Be the Global Voice of the Information Management Profession
  • Support the Career Advancement of Information Professionals
  • Establish a Global Community to Support and Advance the Work of the Organisation

Note: The strategies and tactics accompanying these goals can be requested via email to [email protected].

What’s Next?

The marketing specialists are currently working on the logo and branding for GIC, and we are thrilled to announce that the launch of GIC will occur in Toronto in July. RIMPA will be represented by a strong team at the launch, including Thomas Kaufhold, Peta Sweeney, Bonita Kennedy, Jeremy Manford, Joanne Kane, and Anne Cornish. Their presence will demonstrate to the world that RIMPA is an equal partner in this new venture and is committed to the cause and future of the consortium.

We are also pleased to announce that our representatives will be attending the first joint meeting of the consortium to determine which organisations should participate in the Global Council. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with other organisations in the information management profession and to advance the interests of our members on a global scale.

We encourage all members to learn more about GIC and the opportunities it presents. The consortium will provide a platform for members to engage with global leaders in information management, share knowledge and best practices, and access resources that will enhance their professional development.

We are excited about the future of our profession and look forward to sharing more updates with you soon.
