Webinar | Digital Sustainability - Free Online Event
The ARA Environmental Sustainability Group and Section for Archives and Technology would like to invite you to our free online Digital Sustainability event on 5 October, 12:30-13:30. This session will be followed by the Annual General Meeting of the ARA Section for Archives and Technology, which all attendees are welcome to join.
The growth of digital data and the use of digital technologies are contributing to environmental pollution and climate change. The focus on physical decarbonisation has overlooked the environmental impact of digitalisation, including data generation and storage, leading to a significant contribution to global emissions. The data industry is projected to produce more emissions than the automotive, aviation, and energy sectors combined. To address this issue, his team has designed the "Data Carbon Ladder" free tool to assess and reduce the CO2 footprint of data projects to help businesses create more sustainable and efficient solutions.
Join Professor Tom Jackson and Professor Ian Hodgkinson (Loughborough University) in this free online event to find out more, you can sign up to the event here.
